A note from the owner of A Step To Health, Integrative Health Care Center - Dr. Jena Friedel:
As A Step To Health under my ownership reaches its 20th Anniversary, it brings me much joy to reflect on and share the wonderful journey that got us to this milestone!
Born and raised in small-town Nebraska and having attended doctorate school in Minnesota, when my final internship allowed the opportunity to go out of state, I headed south to the warmth! Following graduation in Spring 2002, I took a year to decompress and figure out where I wanted to start out in private practice and what I wanted that to look like. I learned of an opportunity in a small town in North Carolina, and on July 23, 2003, I officially took on A Step To Health (ASTH), integrative health care practice as my own baby, and have loved being able to nurture it and watch it grow into the center it is now, two decades later.
Originally in historic downtown Hillsborough, the building the practice was in needed a lot of care. So in February of 2004, ASTH relocated to 109 Millstone Drive. Our new suite offered space for more practitioners, with good neighbors, including a school that expanded so quickly that they later requested the entire building. With that came an initially scary but ultimately thrilling new chapter for ASTH, finding ourselves in our own much larger building at 410 Millstone Drive in November of 2017. Can you believe it? We have grown to 20 practitioners, and offer chiropractic care, physical therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, Reiki, nutritional counseling, psychology services, and counseling services, all coordinated by an amazing administrative office assistant. Add to that our balanced movement studio with a fabulous studio manager and mindful movement instructors, and ASTH has grown beyond my dreams of 20 years ago!
